# Piercing Care #

1. Cleaning Your Piercing

  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your piercing.

  • Clean your piercing 2–3 times a day using a saline solution (or a mild sea salt solution: 1/4 tsp salt in 240 ml warm water).

  • Use a clean cotton pad or gauze to gently remove crusts.

  • Avoid alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, or harsh antiseptics — they can damage the skin and delay healing.

2. Showering & Hygiene

  • Rinse the piercing gently with warm water in the shower.

  • Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, lakes, or oceans during the healing period.

  • Keep hair, cosmetics, and clothing away from the piercing as much as possible.

3. Handling & Jewelry

  • Do not twist or remove the jewelry during healing.

  • Avoid unnecessary touching.

  • Use only high-quality materials (surgical steel, titanium, or niobium) for initial piercings.

4. Signs of Infection

Contact a professional piercer or a doctor if you notice:

  • Excessive redness or swelling

  • Severe pain or throbbing

  • Pus or foul odor

  • Fever or feeling unwell

5. Healing Times (Average)

6. General Tips

  • Sleep on the opposite side if possible to avoid pressure.

  • Avoid wearing tight clothing over the piercing.

  • Eat healthy and stay hydrated — it supports faster healing.

  • Do not use ointments unless specifically advised by your piercer.

Remember:

Patience and gentle care are key to a successful healing process. Always follow up with your piercer if you have questions or concerns.
